Final Report

Innophys Co., Ltd.

On December 23, 2020, the field trial conducted by Innophys Co., Ltd. at Hino-ryogoen has been completed.

In the field trial of Innophys Co., Ltd., we verified the effect the use of "Muscle Suit Every" through the questionnaire for the users (caregivers) and the measurement result of body load through electromyography and 3D motion capture.

According to the results of the qualitative questionnaire by the users, it was confirmed that the use of "Muscle Suit Every" reduces workload of the users. As seen in the graph below, there were changes in the values of "Presence of painful areas" and “Degree of fatigue" in the work in general, and "Stress level“ changed especially in the change of posture.

In the simulation using an electromyograph, we measured the activity of the back muscles ((1) - (4)) in nursery work with and without the assistance of "Muscle Suit Every.“ Through the examination, the activity of the muscles was reduced, which confirms the usefulness of workload reduction.

In particular, in the movement of lowering a person from a chair to the floor, the amount of movement of the muscles was greatly reduced by the assistance of "Muscle Suit Every", and quantitative reduction of the physical load was confirmed

In the measurement of work oad using 3D motion capture, we compared and verified the load near the lumbar spine (interlumbar compression) with and without assistance by wearing "Muscle Suit Every". As a result, it was confirmed that the load on the lumbar spine (interlumbar compression) was reduced in nursing care work.

In particular, in the movement of changing the position on the bed, the load (interlumbar compression) near the lumbar vertebrae has been greatly reduced, and it is considered that the usefulness has been sufficiently verified.

Key: Safety threshold for low back compression*1

Based on the above verification results, we believe that “Muscle Suit Every” provided by Innophys is highly useful as a solution to reduce the workload of nursing and care workers. On the other hand, operational issues had been identified such as the use of product in limited space and the time and effort required to attach and detach, and necessary measures for the introduction of the product at welfare facilities in the future were clarified.

In the future, we will use the results of the verification test to promote the use of public procurement.

The field trial conducted by Triple W Japan Inc. at Tokyo Metropolitan Hiroo Hospital and Tokyo Metropolitan Bokutoh Hospital has been completed on January 31, 2021 and February 19, 2021 respectively.

In the field trial, patients wore a urination prediction device "DFree", and the effectiveness was verified by measuring the degree of self-reliance* 1 in urination with the data recorded in the "DFree" app, as well as by measuring changes in the sense of burden and thoughts on excretion care through questionnaires given to nurses. *1: Calculated as the independent urination rate (Number of successful urination/number of urination)

First, regarding the degree of self-reliance in terms of urination, wearing "DFree" improved the self-reliance in urination for the majority of hospitalized patients, and the self-reliance in urination was maintained for the remaining patients without worsening. As a result, an improvement of an average 20.1% self-reliance rate was observed, which confirms the usefulness of "DFree" in improving self-reliance for hospital patients.

As for the improvement effect on the excretion state, we verified the average number of times per day for "frequency of independent urination", "frequency of incontinent urination", "number of idle swings", and "Number of diaper changes", and we confirmed an improvement effect of 30% or more in all items.

*2: Total number of diapers and pads changed in a day

In a questionnaire survey of nurses who support the patietnts, more than 70% of nurses answered that using "DFree" to understand urination patterns and provide urination care would reduce the burden of nursing duties, and more than 50% of nurses answered that using "DFree" improved their awareness of excretion care.

Based on the results of the above verification, we believe that the urination prediction device "DFree" provided by Triple W Japan Co., Inc. is highly useful for improving the self-reliance of urination of hospitalized patients and reducing the workload of nurses. On the other hand, operational issues such as the unstable network and differences in maturity level of using "DFree" were also identified.

In the future, we will use the results of the verification test to promote the introduction of public procurement.

Holoeyes Inc.

The field trial conducted by Holoeyes Inc. at Tokyo Metropolitan Bokutoh Hospital and Tokyo Metropolitan Tama General Medical Center has been completed February 12, 2021.

In the field trial, we used questionnaires and interviews with doctors to ask the change anatomical understanding of the hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery case when sing the service which thereby verify the usefulness of the 3D CT imaging.

First, in the questionnaire on the degree of anatomical understanding for cases of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, doctors evaluated the degree of anatomical understanding on a scale of 10, and compared it with two-dimensional images and three-dimensional images by 2D monitor, which is a conventional method, we confirmed the improvement in the degree of understanding by three-dimensional images using 3D space conducted in this demonstration. In addition, it was confirmed that the improvement in the degree of understanding was the highest especially for the latter term residents, when compared by the degree of experience of doctors * (Up to 37.6% improvement).

In the questionnaire on the usefulness for laparoscopic hepatectomy, doctors evaluated the usefulness of the service on a scale of 5, and the average value of all items was 4.28, confirming the usefulness of three-dimensional images in 3D space. By category, we confirmed that "To determine the location of the tumor" received a particularly high rating of 4.50.

In interviews regarding the usefulness of the service in surgical simulation and preoperative conferences, physicians commented that "It was a good simulation." and "felt like the effort (the amount of mental and physical energy used to accomplish a goal) went down" which confirms that the service was acknowledge for its usefulness in improving anatomical understanding

Based on the results of the above verification, we believe that the service provided by Holoeyes to create 3D model on VR space is highly in increasing the efficiency of surgery and improving training effectiveness. At the same time, operational issues such as unstable network environment and differences in the degree of retention of operations among the doctors were identified, and measures necessary for the introduction of services at hospitals and other facilities were also clarified.

In the future, we will use the results of the verification test to promote the introduction of public procurement.
